BROADSOFT AND NETNUMBER PARTNER TO FACILITATE RAPID
MARKET EXPANSION FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS
BroadWorks Service Delivery System Integrates NetNumber ENUM
Service; Offers Competitive Advantage for Introducing Next Gen
Services
PHOENIX, AZ, March 20, 2001 NetNumber, a pioneer
in the development of carrier-grade commercial ENUM services,
and BroadSoft, Inc., the leading provider of service delivery
systems for next-generation telephony services, today announced
a partnership to facilitate market expansion for competitive local
service providers. BroadSoft will integrate NetNumber ENUM Services
for IP communications in its flagship product, BroadWorks, enabling
service providers to rapidly and cost effectively offer new and
enhanced Web-enabled telephony services to customers.
TalkingNets, a telephony ASP, will be among the first to implement
the ENUM-enhanced BroadSoft services platform. TalkingNets provides
a wholesale telephony service that enables broadband service providers
to offer advanced voice services to their small and medium-sized
business customers without having to invest in deploying their
own voice networks.
"The integration of the BroadSoft services platform with NetNumber
ENUM services promises to facilitate the provisioning of our next
generation telephony services," said Mark Cortner, vice president
of marketing at TalkingNets. "With the integration of the ENUM
service we can further extend the reach of communications applications
across multiple domains while dramatically reducing the complexity
of the system administration tasks associated with the delivery
of packet-based voice services."
The NetNumber ENUM Service provides cross-domain discovery of
unknown IP application endpoints through use of a standard phone
number. This capability enables practical, global deployment of
IP-based services by simplifying the provisioning process and
eliminating complex cross-domain end point configuration management.
A single phone number registered with the NetNumber ENUM Service
can reach multiple IP-enabled devices such as IP-PBXs, IP phones,
VoIP gateways and SIP proxy servers, as well as fax machines,
printers, PDAs, etc.
BroadSoft was first to announce and deliver a comprehensive enhanced
delivery system of packet-based business services. Its flagship
product, BroadWorks, enables service providers to rapidly enter
new markets and immediately generate new revenues with easy-to-use,
differentiated local exchange services over packet-based networks
as well as the traditional public switched telephone network.
BroadWorks includes a rich set of business options such as call
waiting, voice mail, conferencing, auto-attendant and follow-me-anywhere
services, and can interoperate with other network elements and
business applications for a comprehensive set of integrated services
without lengthy and expensive proprietary development.
"NetNumber's ENUM Service overcomes many of the complex provisioning
and configuring issues associated with the delivery of IP-based
services," said Scott Wharton, vice president of marketing at
BroadSoft. "By partnering with NetNumber, we're offering our service
provider customers a real competitive advantage by enabling them
to immediately begin generating revenues with the rapid deployment
of enhanced telephony services."
Glenn Marschel, chief executive officer of NetNumber said, "BroadSoft
makes it as easy as possible for their service providers to succeed.
They continually set a standard in service delivery systems, and
by integrating technology such as ENUM, clearly show they understand
the great importance of acting quickly to deliver cost effective
solutions."
As part of the partnership, BroadSoft will join the NetNumber
ENUM Partner Program, a forum for carriers, service providers,
manufactures and enterprises to promote ENUM technology. The program
allows partners to test call flow completion and enhanced service
delivery to published, registered application endpoints of other
participants utilizing the NetNumber ENUM Service. Additional
benefits include promotional and joint marketing opportunities,
technical support, and free resolver and provisioning Software
Development Kits.
