BROADSOFT AND VPACKET PARTNER TO OFFER SERVICE PROVIDERS
RELIABLE COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION FOR THE DELIVERY OF ENHANCED TELEPHONY
SERVICES
BroadSoft's Service Delivery System and Vpacket's Voice/Data
Router Complete Interoperability Testing - Total Solution Available
Today
GAITHERSBURG, MD and MILIPITAS, CA, July 9, 2001
BroadSoft, Inc., the leading provider of service delivery systems
for next-generation telephony services, and Vpacket Communications,
a privately held Silicon Valley company delivering the power of
converged voice and data solutions, today announced a partnership
to enable service providers to use packet-based networks to deliver
enhanced telecom services to their enterprise customers. The two
companies recently completed successful interoperability testing
between BroadSoft's industry-leading BroadWorks service
delivery system and Vpacket's 6100 Series voice/data router. The
joint solution is now available to service providers.
BroadSoft's BroadWorks is currently being used by service providers
to deliver user-friendly, enhanced telephony services to their
enterprise customers. The BroadSoft-Vpacket partnership will enable
the two companies to increase their market leadership by offering
service providers a reliable, economical solution for delivering
web-enabled telephony services to the enterprise market. BroadSoft's
BroadWorks, which includes a rich set of web-enabled telephony
services, interworks with Vpacket's 6100 series voice/data router
to provide a complete packet-based telephony solution. The Vpacket
equipment provides the customer premise connectivity, while BroadSoft
provides the platform that allows the delivery of the services.
"Service providers today are looking for high quality, reliable
solutions that will enable them to increase their market reach,"
said Scott Wharton, vice president of marketing at BroadSoft.
"BroadSoft's complete suite of services and management capabilities,
in conjunction with Vpacket's innovative networking products,
makes it easy for providers to rapidly and cost-effectively enter
and serve these markets."
BroadWorks is the industry's first complete service delivery system
that enables service providers to offer a rich set of web-enabled
user-friendly enhanced telephony services. BroadWorks' platform
cuts across circuit and packet technologies, allowing service
providers to roll out packet-based telephony services with incremental
investment to their network infrastructure. The BroadWorks services
portfolio includes Centrex services such as call waiting, conferencing
and voice mail, auto-attendant and follow-me-anywhere services;
new services such as instant messaging; and integration with key
business tools such as Outlook and Palm OS-based hand-held devices.
These services can be customized and managed via BroadWorks' web-based
portal, CommPilot, which provides an alternative user interface
for enhanced services, replacing the flash-hook and star codes
of a standard phone.
"Vpacket's 6100 Series voice/data router has overcome one of the
last and most challenging hurdles facing IP based converged voice
and data to the enterprise -- QoS," said Ted Butch, area vice
president of business development for Vpacket. "Our joint solution
with Broadsoft will enable service providers to deliver next-generation
telephony features to the enterprise with the advanced management
and monitoring capabilities necessary to ensure service quality."
Vpacket's 6100 Series voice/data router features the most advanced
level of Quality of Service management for converged networks
available today, as well as auto-provisioning and configuration.
It enables service providers to offer advanced voice and data
services over a single broadband connection to mid-size businesses,
branch offices, multi-tenant units and campus environments. Additionally,
while offering customers true carrier-class packetized voice transport,
the 6100 reduces costs of deployment and management of converged
networks as it supports advanced voice and data features in 12
or 24 port configurations.
