Fujitsu Asia Extends BroadSoft IP Centrex to Wireless
Devices
Extending the Reach of IP Applications Beyond the
Desktop to Mobile Phones
GAITHERSBURG, MD, May 13, 2003 -- Singapore-based Fujitsu
Asia Pte Ltd (Fujitsu Asia) and BroadSoft® Inc. (BroadSoft)
today announced an initiative to integrate Fujitsu Asia's cell phone
access products with BroadSoft's flagship product, BroadWorks®.
Fujitsu Asia will resell BroadWorks throughout the Asia-Pacific
region to enable IP connectivity and access to corporate communication
services via any cell phone device.
Users can now connect to BroadSoft's patented web-based portal,
CommPilot, through a mobile device, to access IP Centrex applications
such as simultaneous ringing, remote office and configurable customer
profile capabilities. With support for the full suite of user functions
on the mobile phone, users will have anywhere, anytime connectivity,
thereby increasing their productivity and effectiveness both in
and out of the office. To serve more mobile workers, different mobile
phone technologies will be supported using current industry-leading
standards, including WAP, J2ME and SMS.
"With today's increasingly mobile workforce, ubiquitous access
to office communications has become a requirement for conducting
business. With Fujitsu's suite of mobility features complementing
BroadWorks complete suite of voice solutions, productivity in the
work-place can be improved." said Chng Teo-Hye, Chairman and
co-CEO of Fujitsu Asia. "Service providers now have more opportunities
to expand their customer reach into the mobile market and bring
in more revenue."
Fujitsu Asia has been an active reseller of BroadWorks to carriers
in Asia including Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Australia
and New Zealand. A member of BroadSoft's third-party developer program,
Fujitsu Asia also supports BroadWorks-platform development through
its technical support center in Singapore. In addition, Fujitsu
Asia performs system integration, supports total network deployment,
and provides ongoing technical assistance. The integration of the
BroadWorks platform with cell phone access products further increases
BroadSoft's presence in the Asian market.
"Fujitsu Asia has been a key third-party developer for BroadSoft
in the Asia Pacific region. Together we have responded to the mobile
worker's need for access to applications best delivered through
a hosted communications platform," said Michael Tessler, president
and CEO of BroadSoft. "We continue to see a growing demand
for BroadWorks and the entrance into the wireless market brings
the benefits of IP applications to a new class of user."
The continued effort by Fujitsu Asia to add value to their partners'
products shows the company's commitment to deliver innovative and
competitive new products and features that answer the needs of the
marketplace. It also brings the strategic partnership between BroadSoft
and Fujitsu Asia to a new level of collaboration.
