BROADSOFT UNVEILS RESIDENTIAL BROADBAND APPLICATION
TO MEET RISING DEMAND FOR VOIP SERVICES TO THE HOME
BroadWorks Offers the Only Platform to Fulfill
Carrier Requirements for Scale, Features, and Regulatory Support
GAITHERSBURG, MD, January 20, 2004 -- BroadSoft® Inc.,
the leading provider of hosted communications platforms, today announced
a new feature package for the globally deployed BroadWorks®
platform, to deliver a market-proven VoIP solution for residential
and small-office-home-office (SOHO) broadband users. For the first
time, BroadWorks enables carriers to quickly enter the VoIP residential
market by providing a single platform solution that meets the scalability
and full range of regulatory requirements necessary for primary
line service.
With the largest market share in the hosted communications space,
BroadWorks offers the following advantages to support residential
VoIP services over broadband:
- The only platform on the market that meets all regulatory requirements
for primary line service, including E911, lawful intercept (e.g.,
CALEA), equal access, operator services, and local number portability;
- All standard services plus voice messaging on one platform,
with the most advanced feature set including web-based management,
find me/follow me, visual voice-mail, and simultaneous ring;
- A turnkey, off-the-shelf application with significantly lower
time-to-market intervals compared to toolkit solutions that require
custom development; and
- Carrier-class scalability to support millions of users for retail
and wholesale deployments.
"BroadWorks lets us quickly deploy a broadband residential
VoIP service that supports unlimited calling and enhanced services
our customers can't get anywhere else," said David Epstein,
president of BroadVoice, a broadband residential VoIP service provider
which will launch its service in the first quarter of 2004.
"Right out of the box, BroadSoft seamlessly integrates with
our operational systems and has all the features we need built in.
Most importantly, I know our investment is protected with BroadWorks'
full regulatory compliance and ongoing feature development. Based
on my extensive experience working with the company, BroadSoft has
the vision and products that make VoIP a compelling residential
service," said Nathan Stratton, CTO of BroadVoice.
"We are excited about the BroadWorks application for residential
broadband services," said Mike Tessler, president and CEO of
BroadSoft. "Only BroadWorks lets carriers immediately enter
the market with a fully regulatory-compliant primary line service
that can compete more effectively both in terms of cost and features.
We're proud to be working with innovative carriers like BroadVoice
as they launch advanced VoIP services for consumers and businesses."
