BroadSoft Welcomes Geoffrey K. Hicks As Vice
President Of Operations
Former Primus Telecommunications Executive Joins
BroadSoft Team to Help Meet Worldwide Service Provider Demand for
VoIP Services
Gaithersburg, MD, March 10, 2006 - BroadSoft, Inc., the
leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced the
appointment of Geoffrey K. Hicks as vice president of operations.
Hicks brings to BroadSoft over 25 years of senior management experience
in global network management and operations, voice/data engineering
and technical business development. He will direct BroadSoft's global
operations, including deployment, project management, training and
technical support.
Hicks joins BroadSoft from CNV Group, LLC, a global telecommunications
consulting practice, which he founded and where he served as president.
Prior to creating CNV Group, Hicks served as an executive officer
for Primus Telecommunications Inc., a BroadSoft customer. He led
their network services and technology groups and was instrumental
in significantly reducing capital and operating expenses while preparing
the company for new technology and product deployments for the consumer
and enterprise VoIP markets.
Prior to Primus, Hicks was the vice president for managed services
at Guidecomm Systems Inc., a global systems integration provider
for telecom service providers. He also served as vice president
of network management at E.spire, a national CLEC, overseeing their
network operations center and second-tier systems support organizations
for local, long distance and data services.
Over a period of 18 years, Hicks held several senior management
positions with MCI, a global telecommunication service provider.
In addition, he was an active member of the founding executive team
for one of the first global telecom initiatives, Concert Communications,
a joint venture between MCI and British Telecom, where he acted
as the technical advisor for the establishment of several international
agreements creating networks in Canada, Latin America and Europe.
"I am very pleased to welcome such a seasoned telecommunications
executive to BroadSoft," said Michael Tessler, president and
CEO of BroadSoft. "Geoff's deep knowledge of the operator world
and his solid understanding of both the drivers that motivate service
providers and the challenges they face will make him a vital asset
to our team. And because he is already familiar with our company,
people and products through our relationship with Primus, Geoff
is the ideal leader to head up our global operations."
"From a customer perspective when I was with Primus, I was
very impressed with the BroadSoft vision, cutting edge products
and customer focus," said Hicks. "I have a high level
of confidence in the company, the products and the technology, and
I am very excited to now become a part of the team."
