FAROESE TELECOM CHOOSES BROADSOFT TO DELIVER
PIONEERING FIXED-MOBILE CONVERGENCE VOICE SOLUTION FOR THE ENTERPRISE
Integrated operator offers the enterprise a single
communications solution that spans their fixed and mobile devices
GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND, November 8, 2006 - BroadSoft Inc.,
a leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced
that Faroese Telecom, the leading provider of fixed and mobile services
to the Faroe Islands, will launch a pioneering Fixed-Mobile Convergence
solution for enterprises on the islands. The new service based on
BroadSoft's BroadWorks®
platform will allow users to take advantage of a single phone number
that contacts them on any device and also empowers the device with
the latest voice applications traditionally only available on an
expensive IP PBX. The future-proof platform will allow Faroese Telecom
to progressively add new cutting-edge services as they become available.
Ordinarily, unanswered calls to deskphones automatically go to
voicemail. The Faroese Telecom Fixed-Mobile
Convergence (FMC) solution allows calls to deskphones to ring
any or all of 10 preset numbers simultaneously, e.g. mobile phone,
home phone, other office, etc. The system also enables standard
2G mobile phones to function identically to IP extensions allowing
services such as unified voicemail, call transfer, call forwarding,
extension dialing, integrated corporate directory and auto-attendant-any
of which can be simply configured through a desktop toolbar.
The solution also offers standard hosted
PBX (IP Centrex) services, completely removing the need for
a PBX, and Business
Trunking (IP Trunking) services, which allow the new applications
to be simply overlaid onto existing PBX infrastructure. Faroese
Telecom will target businesses of all sizes on the Faroe Islands
for its FMC solution, especially businesses with a mobile or disparate
work force.
"Leaving your deskphone has traditionally been a risky business;
there is the ever-present possibility that you can miss calls and
voicemails and, consequently, business opportunities, too. Now you
can have a single number that finds you on any device," said
Richard Mortensen, Faroese Telecom's managing director. "Whether
that device is fixed or mobile, it offers the same functionality
as a top range IP handset. We fully expect this service to revolutionise
our customers' communications experience."
"Faroese Telecom's new FMC service is a leap ahead into the
future telecommunications landscape. The business communications
of tomorrow must be a converged service that is fully personalized,
simply amended and allows the full power of VoIP applications on
any device anywhere" said Michael Tessler, president and CEO
for BroadSoft. "BroadSoft is very proud to have found an ally
who shares a common vision of how communications ought to be."
Faroese Telecom will be showcasing the new service to prospective
customers this month to coincide with its centenary anniversary.
Faroese Telecom took advantage of BroadSoft's QuickStart
program which is based on a go-to-market framework, validated by
industry analysts, that specifies the activities and deliverables
for a comprehensive product and service launch. BroadSoft has launched
over 10 deployments and trials of its FMC solution in Europe, North
America and Asia, offering new productivity and mobile communications
services to enterprises.
