BROADSOFT HOSTS LIGHT READING WEBINAR
ON NETWORK MIGRATION
Webinar to Cover Strategies for Migrating from
Class 5 Switches to IP-based Networks
GAITHERSBURG, MD, September 6, 2007 - BroadSoft, Inc., a
leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that
it will sponsor a webinar on network migration as part of Light
Reading's ongoing series of webinars. Scott
Hoffpauir, Chief Technical Officer for BroadSoft, will present
the webinar, Class 5 Migration: New Strategies, and Joe McGarvey,
senior analyst at Heavy Reading, will moderate.
According to a report by Heavy Reading, an independent market research
organization that offers analysis of telecom technology, "the
migration of Class 5 telephony infrastructure is the next stage
in the transformation of the PTSN into an IP-based communications
and entertainment network."
BroadSoft is involved in several high-profile network migrations
underway at telecoms around the globe, including one at Dutch incumbent
KPN.
"Standardization groups such as TISPAN have proposed several
emulation and simulation methods that would call on softswitches
to be utilized in multiple ways," said Hoffpauir. "This
webinar investigates the various approaches for eventual replacement
of Class 5 switches."
Hoffpauir is a leading voice in next-generation network architecture
and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). As a co-founder of BroadSoft,
he directs the company's technical vision and innovation. Before
launching BroadSoft, Hoffpauir was director of GSM Development at
Celcore (DSC/Alcatel USA), and senior architect for Nortel's GSM
and Inter-Exchange Carrier switching systems. He holds multiple
patents in the GSM, SIP, call processing and switching areas.
McGarvey has been active in the computing and telecommunications
research industry for the past 15 years, both as a journalist and
analyst. He joined Heavy Reading in March 2007, after nearly five
years at Current Analysis, where he initiated that company's carrier
telephony and IMS research and extensively covered the VoIP and
multimedia services sector. His primary field of focus at Heavy
Reading is on VoIP and related hardware and software technologies.
The webinar will take place on Wed., 26 September, at 12:00 p.m.
EDT. There is no cost to participate. Click
