IMS
BroadWorks is the leading application and feature server as defined
in the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture. BroadWorks has
been selected as the exclusive feature server by Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei,
and Italtel and has been deployed in multiple incumbent networks.
In the IMS architecture, user profile information and service logic
are extracted from the access networks and consolidated in BroadWorks,
enabling providers to deliver services to users regardless of the
underlying network.

Backed by industry standards bodies including ETSI and the 3GPP, MMTel is an end-to-end network solution that enables advanced multimedia services and content to be delivered over broadband networks.

In softswitch architecture, BroadWorks acts as a peer to a softswitch,
using the SIP connection between the two as an "IP Inter Machine
Trunk". BroadWorks provides applications, services, and feature-feature
functionality, passing calls to the softswitch/media gateway for
PSTN interconnection, SS7 networking, translations, routing, and
network services.
Packet Cable
BroadWorks provides a comprehensive suite of voice and multimedia
services for cable's residential and business subscribers. With
BroadWorks deployment, Cable providers can offer the "triple
play" for residential subscribers and business grade communications
for business sites. BroadWorks SIP leadership will be critical as
cable providers rollout mobility services enabled in the PacketCable
2.0 architectures.
Mobile PBX
The Mobile PBX architecture is available today and enables service
providers to combines the enhanced features of BroadWorks Hosted
PBX with the mobility of wireless service. As a result, features
such as extension dialing, integrated corporate directory, attendant
support, and web service configuration are available for a user's
mobile device.
Class 5
In Class 5 architecture, providers can offer their customers feature-functionality
of BroadWorks VoIP without replacing existing Class 5 equipment.
In this architecture, BroadWorks provides dial tone, calling features,
unified messaging, and other features while the Class 5 switch provides
the network functionality such as 911, number portability, billing,
and SS7 interconnection.
