BroadWorks Mobility Helps Power New Verizon Business Service
GAITHERSBURG, MD – May 12, 2010 – BroadSoft®, the leading global provider of Voice-over-IP (VoIP) applications to the telecommunications industry, announced today that Verizon Business has extended its use of BroadSoft’s BroadWorks® Mobility Suite to help power its new Global Fixed Mobile Convergence (Global FMC) service, bringing enhanced and simplified calling features to mobile devices. The Global FMC service allows businesses to cost-effectively improve the efficiency of their employees by enabling them to be accessible via one phone number for both their mobile and fixed phone. This allows businesses to deliver superior customer service and better control their corporate communications policies and expenses. Employees benefit from a single phone number and desktop phone features for managing all of their communication devices and services.
Verizon’s Global FMC brings simplicity to business communications, providing one platform for the delivery of fixed and mobile services, and offers businesses a simple way to improve productivity of their employees, without an upfront capital investment. The new service transforms mobile phones to include the functionality of stationary office desk phones, providing access to communication messaging and familiar office phone features. Employees can also switch from a mobile phone to a desktop phone while engaged in a conversation without needing to forward the call. Employees can also have calls sent to the office desktop and mobile phones simultaneously.
BroadSoft’s BroadWorks Mobility Suite provides a range of advanced communications and multimedia applications, including Hosted Unified Communications, Hosted Video Communications, Mobile PBX, Business Trunking, and broadband services fully integrated into a single VoIP application platform. Powered by BroadWorks, Verizon’s Global FMC business customers will be able to make and receive calls on their both mobile and desktop phones using just one phone number, regardless of who is their mobile network operator.
Mike Tessler, CEO of BroadSoft, said: “Verizon’s Global FMC is one of the most innovative FMC services to be offered to the market to date, enabling businesses that use Verizon’s Global FMC to gain a competitive advantage in the ways they service their customers. This service offering should permit companies to experience employee efficiency and productivity gains because of the improved connectivity and management of their communications services, a natural and seamless result of enhanced IP communications evolving from the fixed line to the mobile device.”
Verizon Global FMC will be available immediately to Verizon Business customers in nine European countries: Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. In addition, U.S. and Asia Pacific-headquartered enterprises can also take advantage of the offering for employees based in this initial service area.
