Application Server
The Application Server operates at the core of BroadWorks and is responsible for the execution of enhanced personal and group features. The Server's database maintains user and group profiles, as well as service and subscription data. Key functionality includes management of network traffic and handling of signaling interfaces.

Media Server
The Media Server enables providers to rapidly go to market with a broad array of media-based features. The Media Server provides features typically found in multiple servers, including Unified Messaging, IVR, Auto Attendant, Lawful Intercept, service announcements, and media mixing. Third party media servers can also be deployed within BroadWorks.

Media Resource Function (MRF)
The BroadWorks MRF delivers voice and video services for VoIP and IP MultiMedia Subsystem (IMS) networks. The MRF functions together with and IMS/ SIP application server and enables enhanced services. The MRF provides media mixing and transcoding that enables a host of media services, including Unified Messaging, IVR, Auto Attendant, service announcements, and Lawful Intercept.

Network Server
The Network Server enables BroadWorks to achieve massive scalability and geographic redundancy. The server also provides network level applications such as least-cost routing and E911 support as well as enterprise-focused network applications such as Voice VPNs and web-configurable private dial plans.

Conferencing Server
The BroadWorks Conferencing Server is a specialized media resource that provides a complete set of web-enabled, business conferencing features. Features include highly-sought after web-based presentation and collaboration, enabling providers to offer a differentiated, high-margin service. Operating on standard hardware and fully integrated with BroadWorks back office, the Conferencing Server offers straightforward deployment and scalability.

Element Management System
The Element Management System (EMS) simplifies BroadWorks system integration into a service provider network by providing a single point of access for managing the fault, performance and configuration components of a BroadWorks system. In addition, the EMS offers an integrated view of BroadWorks system resources for network monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting.

External Web Server
The External Web Server (EWS) provides enhanced security and scalability by extracting web functionality from the Application Server. The EWS also offers the Open Client Interface (OCI) that enables third-party applications to access BroadWorks call control and provisioning functionality. The OCI offers third party developers the opportunity to create new applications that augment existing BroadWorks functionality.

Call Detail Server
The Call Detail Server (CDS) offloads call records management from the Application Server. The CDS deployment enables providers to collect of a broader array of call data and distribute those records to other systems in real-time. With the CDS, providers can offer new feature-functionality for further service differentiation while optimizing system performance and hardware utilization.
