BroadSoft's mission is to offer innovative Unified Communications services that improve employee productivity and ensure businesses run more efficiently. We have led the telecommunications industry with the only truly open platform that integrates with other software applications to offer even greater value. Leveraging our own APIs, we recently partnered with Google to combine their industry leading browser and business apps - Chrome for Business -- with our industry leading unified communications services to introduce BroadSoft Xtended Dialer for Chrome.
Here are some of the cool ways we have integrated Google apps and our communications services:
- When users search for a contact in Omnibus, Chrome's address bar, our app combines the user's Google contacts and enterprise contacts, returning a single list of all contacts.
- Once a user finds the contact they are looking for, they simply click on the contact’s name to call from their Chrome browser.
- Also, we have enhanced the incoming call experience by enabling a web notification and voice announcement.
A user no longer needs to search multiple places to find a phone number and then pick-up their desk phone or mobile phone to place the call. The extension streamlines this sometime tiresome process.
Ensuring a user is always connected, the BroadSoft Xtended Dialer for Chrome significantly simplifies the management of a user’s communications preferences. For example, when a user will be away from his/her computer, the account can be set to send calls to: a desk phone, smartphone, tablet or all of his/her communication devices --- all from within a Chrome browser.
This is cool stuff — and you can see it in action:
BroadSoft is building on our open platform strategy by bringing together the communications and web developer communities. By releasing our Xtended Dialer for Chrome as Open Source, our developer community can enhance and customize the extensions capabilities. You can find the base code on GitHub at https://github.com/broadsoftxtended.
We will continue to enhance our Chrome extension by integrating our other communications services, such as instant messaging and presence, video, and more over the coming months. These new capabilities will be released as open source as well, so continue to check back to see the latest ways you can enhance a user’s UC experience.
