PHOENIX, AZ – October 7, 2008: BROADSOFT CONNECTIONS 2008 -
BroadSoft Inc., the leading provider of Voice over IP (VoIP) application software today announced their support for the IBM Service Provider Delivery Environment (SPDE) Framework, building on their partnership success of hundreds of telecom service providers who currently use the IBM BladeCenter and BroadWorks® platform.
The IBM SPDE framework allows clients to leverage their existing investments, partners, and technology to:
- Quickly develop and deploy new revenue generating services
- Take advantage of new business models
- Integrate composite services and connect with BSS/OSS systems
- Consolidate customer, product, network and billing information
- Assure service quality while reducing management complexity and costs
The combination of BroadWorks, IBM SPDE and IBM Global Business Solutions (GBS) provides telecommunication service providers with a complete solution that no other can match.
"Learning from our joint BroadSoft® and IBM BladeCenter customers, we are advancing the delivery of carrier-grade solutions," said Leslie Ferry, vice president of Marketing, BroadSoft. "By building on IBM's years of experience with thousands of SOA implementations and the innovation delivered by the SPDE framework, we can further enhance our SDP capabilities to deliver rich communication voice applications for service providers and also enterprise businesses."
BroadSoft is also previewing a new rich communication solution, which takes advantage of IBM's WebSphere Presence Server, Lotus Sametime platform, and advanced real-time detection technology to initiate dynamic, intelligent call routing with BroadSoft's BroadWorks platform. Using advanced real-time detection technology, a user's device (cell phone, laptop, etc.) is detected within a "Presence Zone", its presence status is published to IBM's WebSphere Presence Server, and call completion is managed dynamically via BroadSoft's CommPilot. In addition, real-time presence information is synchronized with the corresponding user status within the Lotus Sametime platform for initiating additional unified communication and collaboration services. This intelligent call routing demonstration was jointly developed and is featured at IBM's Telecom Solutions Lab in Austin, Texas.
This rich communication solution offers revenue generation opportunities while leveraging their existing BroadWorks investment.
- IBM WebSphere Presence Server collects, manages, and distributes real-time information about access, availability and willingness to communicate across applications. It also bundles a group list server for creating and managing network-stored groups. It adheres to industry standards including the SIP protocol that is fully integrated into the J2EE architecture.
- Lotus Sametime offers built-in instant messaging, VoIP, video chats, and Web conferencing capabilities with the security features required for today's business use. In addition, it is a platform for integrating third party telephony, audio, video and business applications that can be delivered in context of a user's role or a business process.
"Rich communications services provide mission critical offerings for service providers in an ever increasing competitive marketplace. They are approaching the tip of the arrow for increasing business productivity and driving new sources of revenue with enhanced collaboration services," says Tim Greisinger, Vice President, Communications Sector Industry Solutions, IBM Software Group. "BroadSoft and IBM are joining forces to allow our customers to deliver flexible, cost effective and carrier-grade rich communication services exploiting IBM's Service Provider Delivery Environment Framework and BroadSoft's VoIP BroadWorks platform."
SOA is among the fastest-growing segments of the information technology industry and IBM offers the most comprehensive portfolio of software, services and hardware for building, maintaining and extending SOA environments.
IBM's leadership in the SOA market is further illustrated by a thriving community of greater than 120,000 architects and developers, more than 134 universities advancing the SOA curriculum. As part of its overall industry frameworks strategy, IBM is expanding this partner community with the development of an Industry Solutions partner program. The program will allow partners to validate their applications on IBM's industry-specific frameworks and build industry solution components that target key industry needs.
