GAITHERSBURG, MD, Dec. 2, 2008 — BroadSoft's Scott Hoffpauir is presenting at IMS Global Congress 2008, which takes place Dec.1-4 in Munich, Germany. This year's event will focus on how to identify and evolve the killer applications and services that justify the business case for IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).

As CTO, Hoffpauir is responsible for guiding the technical vision and direction for BroadSoft as well as promoting continuous product innovation. Prior to BroadSoft, Hoffpauir was Director of GSM Development at Celcore (DSC/Alcatel USA), where he was responsible for all product development on the GSM switching product. Hoffpauir played a key role in setting up customer trials and providing sales support, as well as served as representative to the GSM standards body. Before Celcore, Hoffpauir was Senior Architect for Nortel's GSM and Inter-Exchange Carrier switching systems. Hoffpauir holds multiple patents in the GSM, SIP, call processing, and switching areas.

A key issue for service providers today is their relationship with the Web 2.0 community. Hoffpauir will outline a strategy for integrating Web 2.0 and IMS into a viable solution for both the residential and business markets. He will highlight new service examples that BroadSoft has "mashed up" with Web 2.0 partners, ranging from simple services like IMS-based SIP trunking to highly-advanced residential applications.
