BroadSoft Unifies Internal Communications, Delivering Advanced Collaboration and Presence Capabilities to its Global Workforce
SEATTLE and GAITHERSBURG, MD, June 25, 2009 — Chinook Hosting, a leader in the hosted applications industry, today announced that it has been selected to support BroadSoft's internal Unified Communications (UC) deployment — one of the industry's first hosted UC deployments on Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Release 2. The deployment will enhance BroadSoft's workforce productivity through more effective internal and external communications and collaboration, and complete desktop collaboration with remote users.
BroadSoft, Inc., the worldwide leader of VoIP applications, is a global company with more than 300 employees dispersed across 22 countries. With a workforce comprised of road warriors and highly-dispersed collaborative teams, BroadSoft® seeks to streamline communications, increase information sharing and automate business processes throughout the company's worldwide operations. Given the company's global presence, it is critical that employees can work anywhere and collaborate in real time.
Chinook is delivering a premium Hosted UC solution that integrates BroadSoft's BroadWorks® VoIP application platform and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 hosted at Chinook. The solution combines hosted e-mail, instant messaging and user presence with BroadWorks, enabling BroadSoft to take advantage of new capabilities such as click-to-call from the user's desktop. In addition, the solution provides user real-time presence indication, secure instant messaging, and desktop and application sharing over the network.
BroadSoft expects to achieve cost savings and meaningful productivity gains by enabling:
- employees to know how and when to most efficiently contact each other through contextual user presence awareness
- technical support staff to remotely control a customer's desktop
- employees to view other employee real-time call status
- geographically-dispersed developers to collaborate more closely on projects during design reviews
- employees to use video conferencing capabilities, further reducing travel expenses
"Building on our expertise in UC, BroadSoft understands the vast productivity and collaboration enhancements gained from the real-time integration of Hosted PBX, mobility, video and Web 2.0," said Michael Tessler, co-founder and CEO, BroadSoft. "We expect these benefits coupled with the inherent value of a hosted solution — rapid service turn-up, limited capital expense, immediate global coverage, and improved communications resiliency — to generate extraordinary productivity improvements that will positively impact our bottom line."
Chinook Hosting's CEO Steve Schwartz stated, "Working in concert with BroadSoft, both as a partner to develop and deliver Hosted UC to small and medium-sized businesses, and in the planning and implementation of their internal UC solution, has allowed Chinook Hosting to drive thought leadership around these technologies. Our joint success has demonstrated the great potential in integrating BroadWorks with the Microsoft UC platform."
BroadSoft completed interoperability testing and validation of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 in conjunction with Microsoft Corp. in early 2009. To prepare for the deployment, Chinook collaborated with BroadSoft's interoperability team to fully validate Office Communications Server 2007 R2 with the latest BroadWorks releases, ensuring a seamless transition for BroadSoft to the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 platform.
