BroadSoft's Feature-Rich and Carrier-Grade Platform Positions Comstar to Capitalize on Russia's Red Hot Market for Corporate Network Services and Pending Liberalization of Residential Market
Gaithersburg, MD, July 5, 2005 - BroadSoft, Inc., the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that Comstar United Telesystems, one of Russia's largest digital telecommunications operators and a subsidiary of Sistema (LSE:SSA), deployed BroadSoft's hosted VoIP application software to support its suite of corporate voice network services. Based on the BroadSoft® BroadWorks® platform, Comstar provides its SME and large business customers all the advanced features of an IP PBX minus the cost of owning and operating one.
In 2004 Sistema announced the creation of Comstar United Telesystems - the merger of three alternative telecom service providers to offer business customers a one-stop-shopping solution for all their information technology needs. By adding BroadSoft's hosted VoIP applications to its converged services package, Comstar is able to deliver to their more than 28,000 corporate customers a complete range of hosted PBX features including audio and video conferencing, universal voice mailbox, find-me-follow-me services, automatic secretary and user-friendly web-based portals for each user. BroadWorks also supports Comstar's Voice VPN service that interlinks a company's subsidiaries into a single manageable voice corporate network.
"BroadSoft's hosted voice services appeal to our customers because they support a rich set of compelling features, eliminate the need for a PBX and lower total cost of ownership," said Semen Rabovsky, general director of Comstar United Telesystems. "By supporting the IMS architecture and multiple applications on one platform, BroadSoft positions us to integrate our wireless and wireline services and move into new markets, such as residential, as regulations change and demand grows."
Center of Telephony Integration (CTI), a Russian systems Integrator and software development company specializing in IP communications, managed Comstar's deployment of the BroadWorks platform. "Comstar is empowering Russian businesses to compete with the latest communications tools that eliminate the hassle and cost of premises-based PBX systems," said Igor Maslennikov, general manager at CTI. "BroadSoft leads this industry because they enable carriers to quickly launch profitable and compelling services that address the unique needs of new markets."
"Comstar is taking the lead in Russia's explosive telecommunications industry by providing businesses a comprehensive set of converged voice and data services that add value and save money," said Michael Tessler, CEO and president of BroadSoft. "We look forward to working with CTI to help Comstar grow with new services to new markets."
BroadSoft's BroadWorks VoIP application platform provides a comprehensive range of advanced applications, including hosted PBX, IP Centrex, mobile PBX, business trunking and residential broadband services fully integrated into a single VoIP application platform. BroadWorks is uniquely capable of providing these applications with the reliability, redundancy, scalability and regulatory capabilities required to deliver carrier-class service.
