GAITHERSBURG, MD, June 5, 2009 — BroadSoft, Inc., the worldwide leader in VoIP applications, today announced that Jim Tholen was recognized as the private company chief financial officer (CFO) of the year at the 13th annual Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards, hosted by the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) June 3rd at The Ritz-Carlton in McLean, Va.

Under Tholen's financial leadership, BroadSoft® experienced significant year-over-year revenue growth in 2008. "We are very excited that Jim was selected as CFO of the year," said Michael Tessler, co-founder and CEO of BroadSoft. As a direct result of Jim's efforts, BroadSoft is a stronger company that has not only endured but thrived through tough market conditions."

With more than 20 years of financial and strategic management experience, Tholen has a track record of improving the performance of several of the area's leading technology companies. He served as CFO and chief operating officer (COO) at NetSec, Inc., a managed security services company acquired by MCI (now Verizon Business). He served as chief strategy officer (CSO) and CFO for CareerBuilder.com, helping CareerBuilder.com grow into the number two company in the Internet recruiting and job market segment. He also served as Vice President – Strategy and M&A at Legent Corporation (now Computer Associates), and as a technology investment banker at Morgan Stanley.

Jim is very active in supporting the local CFO community. He was President of the DC Metro chapter of Financial Executives International until May 2008 and currently serves on the board. He was also the long-term chairman of NVTC's CFO Forum. Tholen is an alumnus of Davidson College and holds an MBA from Yale University.
