RICHARDSON, TEXAS, & GAITHERSBURG, MD, Feb. 22, 2008 - Taqua®, LLC., a leading supplier of next-generation end-office switching systems and technologies, and BroadSoft®, Inc., a leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that Sac County Mutual Telephone Company has chosen the two companies' award-winning TaquaWorks™ switching solution to replace Sac County's legacy Class 5 switch and provide a suite of enhanced IP applications.

Sac County Mutual Telephone Company has been providing telephone service to Odebolt, Iowa community since 1903. Today, the company provides the cities of Odebolt and Arthur a combination of services including local telephone, long-distance & custom calling, high-speed DSL and dial-up broadband internet services, and cable television in Arthur and Battle Creek. Sac County will replace its legacy Class 5 switch with TaquaWorks™, a tightly integrated communications solution that includes the Taqua 7000™ Switching System (T7000) equipped with BroadSoft's BroadWorks® suite of VoIP applications.

"Any service provider looking to deliver next generation voice services is obviously looking for enhanced IP services that can increase revenues per subscriber," said, Deborah Kish, a senior analyst at Gartner Group. "Many carriers however still have a lot of TDM in their network. These TDM subscribers often represent a significant opportunity for increasing revenues if the carrier chooses a solution that can deploy enhanced services across TDM, as well as IP networks."

"We choose the TaquaWorks solution because of its reputation as a proven switch replacement solution, which is now nicely complemented with the industry's leading enhanced applications platform," said Dale J. Schaefer, general manager at Sac County Mutual Telephone. "With TaquaWorks, we can continue providing basic or enhanced TDM services, as well as the most advanced IP services imaginable from the same chassis. This naturally provides increased reliability in a solution that is more cost effective than its competition."

Named "Product of the Year" by INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine, TaquaWorks is a standards-based, next-generation platform that supports the leading industry protocols such as GR303, PRI, CAS, and POTS, as well as SIP, MGCP and NCS. The suite of applications allows subscribers to manage their multiple types of communications, such as email, and wireless and wireline telephony. By providing a single communications portal, subscribers have the flexibility to control all their communications, direct calls and voice mails where and how they want them. TaquaWorks delivers these features with interoperability, back office capabilities, redundancy, and scalability.

"Sac County Mutual Telephone is the perfect TaquaWorks customer because of their need as an incumbent telephone company for high reliability coupled with an ability to generate new revenues," said Scott Weidenfeller, chief marketing officer at Taqua. "With TaquaWorks, it's easy to provide advanced features to either TDM or VoIP subscribers, so Sac County customers don't have to invest in new VoIP infrastructure and IP phones to receive the benefits."

"The residential and business customers of Sac County Mutual Telephone will now have access to the latest calling features available," said Scott Wharton, vice president of Marketing for BroadSoft. "By choosing TaquaWorks for its migration to IP, Sac County Mutual Telephone has prepared itself to deliver another 100 years of service to the Odebolt, Arthur, and Battle Creek communities."
