Speeding time-to-market for RCS services with WIT’s RCS Mobile Clients and BroadSoft’s BroadCloud RCS
Barcelona, Spain, February 25, 2013 – WIT Software and BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSFT) today announced the successful completion of Interoperability Testing (IOT) for RCS-e Hot Fixes services. This IOT testing was conducted using BroadSoft’s BroadCloud™ RCS solution and WIT Software’s mobile RCS applications.
With this integration milestone, Mobile Network Operators looking for a fast-track route to take RCS services to market can now take advantage of the WIT RCS Apps (for Android and iOS) working with BroadSoft’s BroadCloud RCS solution.
Commenting on this milestone with BroadSoft, WIT Software's CEO Luis Silva said: "WIT is well-established as a leading player in the RCS space, following the GSMA’s decision to select us as the reference provider for RCS-e Downloadable Apps in 2012, and our successful product roll-outs with both Telefónica and Orange Spain. We are now delighted to be working with BroadSoft to enable its RCS service using our smartphone applications. Our prime focus is to ensure that BroadSoft can provide operators with fast and successful RCS roll-outs, and we look forward to a fruitful and long-lasting co-operation."
"Market adoption of RCS solutions has been slowed by high initial investments and integration complexity" said Scott Hoffpauir, chief technology officer, BroadSoft. "We believe BroadCloud RCS significantly reduces the costs and complexity associated with a service provider's RCS deployment, enabling them to quickly take to market advanced communications services that include integrated multimedia and messaging solutions."
RCS (Rich Communication Services) is a GSMA specification that includes advanced communication services such as capability discovery, instant messaging, content sharing, location sharing, voice-over-IP and video-over-IP. All these services will be available across devices on any mobile network that implements the RCS technology. Both WIT and BroadSoft are aligned with the GSMA’s evolutionary path for RCS. WIT will continue to work with BroadSoft to ensure that new RCS 5.1 features are made available to operators to enhance their RCS delivery.
BroadCloud’s Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform provides mobile operators with a cloud-based service delivery of converged messaging, presence, media sharing, voice and video calling. With a cloud service delivery model, BroadCloud RCS also speeds time-to-market, reduces deployment costs and integration complexity for mobile operators.
WIT Software is a leading supplier of downloadable RCS Apps: it was the first company to receive full-accreditation from GSMA for the joyn Hot Fixes Android RCS App, and was also the first to receive Apple’s acceptance for the iPhone RCS App. The new version of the WIT’s RCS Apps that will be presented during MWC in Barcelona already incorporates support for some of the key features of RCS.5.1, maintaining WIT’s leading position in this sector.
BroadSoft is the leading provider of software and services that enable mobile, fixed-line and cable service providers to offer Unified Communications over their Internet Protocol, or IP network. The Company's core communications platform enables the delivery of a range of enterprise and consumer calling, messaging and collaboration communication services, including private branch exchanges, video calling, text messaging and converged mobile and fixed-line services.
